Why DutyLookout exists

When the US de-minimis exemption ended, duty suddenly applied to the parcels small merchants ship every day — and the tooling gap became obvious. Platform-native duty estimates give no reasoning and no warning when rates change; the platforms that do are built and priced for enterprises.

DutyLookout is our answer for the merchants in between: classification you can inspect and approve, duty math from a versioned rate database that names its sources, and a daily watch on the tariff schedule so changes reach you before they reach your margins.

How we work

• Transparency over magic. Every suggested code carries a confidence score and a reason; every duty figure names the rate snapshot it came from.
• AI where it helps, arithmetic where it matters. AI drafts classifications for your review. Duty math is deterministic — no model ever invents a rate.
• Minimal data. We read product catalogs, not customers. The less we hold, the less can go wrong.
